I have searched the forums without any real luck for what I am looking for.

I would like to replace the standard driving lights on my Cali with an LED light. I like the lines and the look
of the originals so I would like to either convert those or purchase complete units that looks similar. The housings are small so I would expect that they would have to be re-designed for proper cooling, so I don't want to just try to cheap out. My goal is to reduce overall load for cold weather riding with the heated seat and grips.

Any thoughts?

One easy solution may be to replace the bulb with LED, though I cannot recall which type it is. Can you remove one and post a photo and/or info from the bulb?

The bulb is a H3 55w. There's not alot of room. You will need an led bulb with an heat sink otherwise the led bulb won't last long.

I finally got some time. Here are some photos.

Basic H8 in there now. There is some room in the domed back part. I don't know how much ventilation an LED would require.

My top shelf vendor has an H8 for $65. They are made for sealed enclosures; https://gtmotocycles.com/products/led-headlight-bulbs-usa - Only downside is that they have a small ballast box. It fits and works in headlight enclosures. I can add them to the online store for purchase to support the site here. Post again if so.

Todd, do they think that the small ballast box would fit into this enclosure? Or would I be looking to find space on the bike?

Thanks

“They” wouldn’t know, it would be on you to find out as I don’t have easy access to a 1400 Tour to test. I imagine it should. Well worth the time and $ if you can make it work.

I'll give it a try. I would also like to do my headlight.

I’ll add them this evening to the online store. Unfortunately there’s no headlight bulb options. There’s a thread on that one here.

Never mind the headlight comment. That was for my Bassa. My brain was just a little confused.
