Hi All,

I put 20 grade oil in my forks last year and it was too thick so need to swap it out again. To do it last time I popped the screw off the top of the fork, tipped them upside down to drain the old oil out and then refilled using a syringe. It was a pain in the butt and I'm not confident I got all the crud out. I can't find any instructions on how to take the forks apart (they look like they have a cartridge in them rather than the springs I'm used to working on) can anyone suggest a resource that shows how to do this properly please?

Thanks in advance,

Ade.

I suggest you not take the forks apart as you need special seal drivers to replace the seals and dust covers on assembly. The seal and dust cover are installed after you insert the tube into the slider. If you install seals into the slider before putting the tube into the slider the bushing on the tube will cut the seal. If you want to have the forks disassembled and cleaned on the inside I suggest you take them to a competent shop.

Special seal drivers? Yes, I have one, it's a length of plastic drain pipe chosen to fit nicely on the seal and the following dust cover.

I wouldn't be deterred from servicing it yourself for this reason alone.

Mine is 1 1/2" PVC ripped down the center which makes it adjustable for older small blocks, Tonti's and newer models.
