Well this is no fun....after nearly 15000 flawless miles my rear running lights have gone missing. Everything else is back there, turns on both side, brake lights work with both front or rear application and the tag light is as bright as ever.
Yes the "headlight" switch is on, as indicated by the tag light.
I will admit that electricals are low on my skill level compared to the rest of the bike; so...
anyone have any guesses where to look first for the guzzi gremlins?

The tag light runs on a different circuit than the rear running lights, so is a red herring. Do the running LEDs in the headlights operate? Both are operated by the ignition switch (although the headlight LEDs have an off-on switch on the front of the RH handlebar).

If all OK at the front, I'd check the wiring in the rear for chafing.

Kiwi Dave, yes the DRL lights on the front work as does the headlight with the switch. Flashers, turns, brake and tag all work as designed, just no running lights regardless of switch position. And all verified with the engine running.
Now to begin disassembling the rear of the bike to find the issue.
Thanks!

Check for power at the plug, and run a visual or continuity check back from there. My guess is wiring.

No power at the 4 pin plugs on either side of the ECM. No power to the running lamps anyway...turns, brake, and flashers all OK, with power.

Someone confirm something for me...I'm beginning to doubt my sanity...
The running lights ONLY come on with the headlight switch in the DOWN (on) position AND with the engine running, correct??
The LED DRL's dim in the headlight on position and brighten up when the headlight switch is in the UP (off) position...?
When the headlight is in the UP (off) position there are NO rear running lights on, correct?? (engine running)
This is for a 2014 US spec 1400 touring.
Thanks in advance for any help here....

Not true. The rear running lights (and the front ones too) turn on as soon as the ignition key is switch on. They stay on when the engine is started.

If you've got the running lights working in the headlight, methinks there's a wiring loom issue feeding the rear lights. Since both sides are not working, you can trace from where the feed splits back to the main ignition point.

Makes sense...have 3 of 4 wires isolated at the plugs on either side of the ECM...only one that shows nothing is the Yellow / Grey stripe that leads, through two connectors directly to the ignition switch, seems that it should be powered ...time will tell....
Thanks!

Hmmmm...found the Yellow/Grey wire coming out of the ignition switch. Switch on and...nothing. Until...I turned the key over to the "P" mark (just for curiosity) and the wire is powered and lights up the rear running LED's just fine.
SO...Bad ignition switch? or am I possibly missing something else?
