So it's coming to the end of the winter season (soon than later I hope) and the battery will be coming off the trickle charger. Yippee!

Question - I'd rigged up a solar panel with a reasonable 10watt output to a controller unit, to keep the battery topped up. As a precaution I'd removed the battery from the bike but did I need to? No mains-electric in the garage I keep the bike in, just a convenient window from which to draw power. :D

Was I being overly cautious about the electrical system on the bike? On my previous UJM, I'd have just left the battery in place, terminals connected and plugged the trickle charger into the accessory socket and left it to do it's job. No worries.

Would it be ok to do the same on the Breva in future? Park the bike up, lift the seat, plug in the charger and lock up?

What do you think?

I leave mine permanently connected to the trickle charger. The wires are hard wired to the battery, and a plug sticks out the side panel. When I put the bike away, I just plug it in.

Been like that for about 18 months now and never had an issue. Prior to this the battery was always discharging after 4-5 days. It's an 06 B11 with the original battery. Can't complain about that!

Also, mine is plugged to a power point.

regards

Robert

-.

I have wired up a standard cigarette lighter on mine - not externally, but I lift the seat to plug it in when needed - I don't disconnect anything, just plug a lead into a 12V power supply (not even a battery charger). Usually when I need mine, I need it in a hurry, so I bung in enough to get her started and let the on board alternator do its thing...
