"Chrome" Batteries - Any Experience?

Ron, there's a great deal of knock-offs out there, and largely (as a part of the "you get what you pay for" analogy) for they will last about half the time the Yuasa will, which is now down to ~2-3 years with attentive care. AGM/Lead Acid batteries are dying a quick death with lead legislation on the books.
Lithium is the new replacement, and while pricey at buy in, will outlast the AGM's that can be bought these days 2-3x over. I have several options on my Store tab above or here; https://www.guzzitech.com/store/catego ... lectronics

I'm not much help at the moment but I have one coming for my Yamaha Razz scooter. It's not life or death if it doesn't start as it has a kickstarter and I plan on selling it so why not? I may be able to tell if it a relabeled Yuasa when I get it. When I used to sell batteries Yuasa came from Japan, U.S. or Taiwan. My experience was the low cost ones were Taiwan and they did not last as long as the others. I could not tell any difference between U.S. and Japan versions.

As Yuasa are OEM for 85% of motorcycles on the planet, most other battery manufacturers use the same model numbers.
But when you research and test these other batteries, they often have far less CCA's etc. I sell Yuasa. The easiest way to get more grunt out of a cheap battery is to up the sulphuric acid to water ratio, but the acid will eat away the plates at a faster rate. That equals premature failure.

The only Lithium I have experience with is Shorai, I think Todd was selling these. I wanted the smallest possible battery in my bike, and fitted one that was less than minimum recommendation by Shorai. Other than not charging it or riding my bike for 6 months, but starting it just so somebody could hear my loud exhaust, eventually flattened it. But it recharged and has given faultless service ever since.

Purchased some Shorais for work some time back. Out of the three, one is still working - seems to be fine if you don't use them...

I purchased an SSB PowerSport Lithium battery (LH14-BS) to replace my original Yuasa - no problems cranking my 1200 Sport - just sayin'

Hi Ron,
My local battery shop suggested I buy the Yuasa YTX20 - BS ( not the CH version) readily available and it is physically a bit longer , but otherwise the same rating. $50 cheaper. There is plenty of room for it in the Breva , the top cover will still fit , just not as well, and I put my own bit of rubber to cover the + terminal , which now sits outside the standard Guzzi plastic cover. I like to buy "brand name" batteries. I do believe you get what you pay for. I also remove the Breva main fuses between rides , as per the owners manual, to avoid draining the battery ! Cheers, Dave
