Today I took receipt of my two “new to me” California IIs. Dressed up donor is a 1984 and the other one is a 1983. Most, if not all, of the parts came with the bike plus an 8 foot truck bed worth of additional “stuff (2 sets of 1980s plastic black luggage, two spoked wheels with brake disks, 3 tall windshields, 1 ugly Kawasaki Voyager looking faring, fenders and boxes of extra parts). Wouldn’t call them a barn find although the 1983 WAS in the back of a barn! Exciting times in my little shop for sure. Have to sleep outside with the dogs tonight, but I think both bikes are worth it!

Be sure to update the clutch components to the newer 4mm spline. I had a CA II that after 4000 miles the clutch would not disengage. In fact, that bike was used to prototype the 4mm spline system. I got to where I could change a clutch in under 3 hours.
