Suddenly realised there was no charge going into the battery. On checking the 20 Amp fuse supplying the lights had blown, and continued to blow when replaced.
The fault was traced to the spring catch on one of the dip bulbs having come loose and was shorting out one pin.
Now I always thought the idea of using more than one fuse in any automotive setting was so that a fault such as this would blow the fuse and isolate it from the rest of the electrics.
So why on earth do Guzzi design it so that a simple fault not only blows a fuse but takes out the alternator too?
