Kathi and I go to Atlanta for a week or so every month to give my brother a break with caring for our 92-YO mom.

Usually cage it; 600 or so miles in 8+ hours when Kathi drives :D; 9+ when I do ; I'm saving my LEO discussions for motorcycles. ;)

Over next few months hope to take two vehicles, a cage and a Guzzi. We've done this numerous times, and take two days, as I am not about to wear out Guzzi tires on the I-81, 77, & 85 slab.

Have done all sorts of routings, but general favorite is (N to S) Va. SR 259 to CR 613 vic. Broadway, then SR 42 to vic. Marion, where I decide which of the many fine ways to go SW I will take. We'll RON along the way, but never know exactly where as making reservations on a m/c trip tends to become a "must get there" thing instead of a joy-filled journey.

Anyway, mention this in case anyone interested in "escorting us" for part of the way.

Will depart Cross Junction c.8 a.m. ... tho reality usually means 9 :snooze: ... on Saturday, 16 May.

OBTW, coming back on the 23d, but via (Whitesville & Bardstown) Kentucky and a 4-day "long cut" home. Will have a Norge and ST1300 for company for part of that portion. Details if anyone cares.

Change 1 ... tho I doubt anyone really cares. :giggle:

Leaving Sunday, 17 May, not Saturday, 16 May. Too much "real life" has gotten in the way of the original launch. That, coupled with my routine procrastination and disorganization, led to the delay.

Same route plan, i.e., not much of one beyond the general axis of advance, and part 2, Kentucky return, remains as before.

Meant to follow up with a ride report, and might yet ... if I can escape Kathi's "honey-do's." She is a retired middle-school teacher who knows that savvy wives can herd "boys" of all ages into doing things they'd rather not. Today's list of things I agreed to do while distracted includes cleaning gutters, killing a trillion Allegheny mound ants, and changing lawn-mower blades.

So ... until I get around to a real ride report, here are three pix to give an idea of a very fine (albeit more wet than optimal) 1500-miler.
