So 4 weeks ago we bought a 2008 Stelvio with 50000 miles on it. Thought as a try out I would take it on a 10 day 2000 mile ride to Scotland. First day and a half i rode about 400 dry miles with a wee bit of heavy rain for 30 or so but everything was great. Hit some big rain later on 2nd day up Loch Lomond,North of Glasgow and it started misfiring badly so pulled off the road. Randomly sprayed WD40 at the electrics as what else could I do?
It started up ok-ish but after a couple of seconds the dash died. So thought we'd give it a go and ride on. Under 3000 it wasn't happy in any gear , give it throttle to overtake etc and it would hesitate but then get going.
Switch it off and the dash will give info even up to date trip mileage. Then go weird after about 15 seconds. Then blank. Rev counter and all other electrics work.
Going to keep riding and hope for better weather. ECU has the rubber cover on it.
Cheers

So another 700 miles further on and no more rain. Dash diplay fails randomly still. Mainly just a couple of hundred yards after start up.
Definitely not happy under 3000. Sometimes it feels like it is going to die when you give it throttle. But that's not every time.

Check you ignition switch wires. May be loose or corroded as they connect into the switch.

Are you sure you are running on two cylinders. If so, I suspect your stepper motor is stuck or your TPS is starting to go.

Anyway today I had a good poke after a suitable amount of research.
Took rear wheel off and siliconed around the cable input for the speed sensor. The back of the sensor was pretty well sealed up.
Took the dash out and found a tide mark inside the housing. There had been a reasonable amount of water in there a few times I reckon. Took my drill to the housing base and made some holes to allow drainage. Dash looked ok with no obvious signs of leakage. It hasn't rained for ages and it's about 34C down here today.
When I was reinstalling it there seems to be a gap along the top of the housing. Black gaffer tape for the minute will suffice. There are other areas where water could get in but hopefully I have stemmed the flow and given it an exit should it ever rain again.
Cheers

Maybe keep some of these handy? Could be used to cover the dash. https://www.amazon.com/Processing-D...&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=clear+shower+cap&psc=1
