I was planning a trip an my Custom still had the OEM H Pipe on. My trip was going extend in to Mexico for 3 days so i didnt what to have a H-Pipe blow out of country.
SO i ordered one up a new cross over pipe from GTX. Upon takings off the pipes I found a hole in the left header pipe by the front weld a nuts holding on my heat shield, you see how it ate through heat shield. Probably was just a pin hole at the beginning.
Also on the right side the heat shield had been rubbing on my rear foot brake lever, you can see the wear groove there.
This is the first time my header pipes were off.
So the moral of this story is to check your pipes and while you do put in a new H-pipe and or a new system. So i will go for warranty on the brake arm and heat shield but probably look into new Headers from GT-Rx.
