For years I've thought the dynostarts were no longer available......BUT I WAS WRONG !!!! Here's where to get them:

Woodauto Supplies Ltd of Huddersfield in UK.
The part required is: Dynastart 12V 11Amp part no. DST10004. Price £192.00
The website is http://www.woodauto.co.uk.

All you need to convert a kickstart bike to electric start is the replace the standard dynamo with a dynostart, a longer mounting bolt and a new drive pulley (the dynastart has a different diameter shaft).

I bought one of these Dynostarts from Woodautos in 2006 and it has been in use for 30,000kms with no trouble at all, hence highly recommended. I used a pulley from a Moto Guzzi Galleto which fits the 17mm shaft which is fitted on the Dynostart as opposed to the standard 15mm. It is a larger diameter pulley which means a few more revs to achieve a charge but this has never caused me any problems.
A starter switch from a BMC mini makes an ideal solution without any bother with a solenoid. I mounted this below the saddle next to the battery with a cover made from a vitamin pill container to fully waterproof it and it has proved very succesful.
