Electrical - Installing a DVR system

Hello everyone,

I have a new DVR system to install on my '17 Stelvio but wasn't sure about how to go about installing the permanent power harness to bike as electrical systems are a bit daunting to me. I was going to connect to the front cigarette lighter outlet which I never used but the system has a white wire(see attached diagram) needed for ignition controlled power. The outlet in the front only allows the red and black wires to be connected and due to the missing white wire connection, the device automatically shuts off after 30-35 seconds requiring to be turned on again manually.

Manufacturer is recommending tapping to either the ignition or the rear lights, preferably after the fuse box.
- Which wires should I use (ignition/rear lights)?
- Where exactly would you recommend I do this?
- Best method to do this (splice/solder, tap connector, etc.)?

TIA

Use a piggy back connector at the fuse box. Something like this. https://www.amazon.com/Pixnor-Circu...ywords=fuse+connectors&qid=1591236720&sr=8-20
Thank you!

I had to edit this post once I realized what was missing; the always on (red) power connection.
The cigarette lighter on the instrument cluster was providing me the ACC power and the ground connections but NOT the always on power which is why the unit was shutting off after a short while.
I just ordered the aforementioned adapter so I can provide the always on power it was missing.

Cheers,
T

Hello all,

I have installed the DV988 DVR system on my Stelvio and even made a video on it if anyone is interested.

I also have the 20% discount code in the notes section if anyone was actually in the market for getting one. I did a bit of a research between different makes and even different models of the same company (BlueSkySea) and decided on the one I bought.
Overall, I am pretty impressed with it, and definitely recommend it.
