Electronic ignition for LM 1

Here’s the question. I have a 1977 LM 1 that had been dual plugged and has a Dyna ignition. The dual plugging was never activated until recently I installed the correct dual coils and activated it. It is my understanding that the timing needs to be retarded. In doing so the advance is affected. Is there an ignition out there that allows you to dial in the static and advance timing independently?

That would be built into the Dyna, if it was possible. I doubt it is.

If you're experiencing pinging on acceleration, you could retard it slightly, but if there's no pinging just enjoy it!

You have a mechanical advance in the distributor. I have installed a ignition from Germany that is a crank sensor type, Silent Hecktic (spelled wrong). It had a plate that goes in dizzy with different timing curves,, four I remember. There are more out there for sale.
Keep an eye on plug color, also look down on insulator for pre-ign even if no pinging.
Like Dave said you can retard it.

Initial advance for the LM 1 is 8 degrees BTDC with full advance at 34 degrees BTDC. I'd start by setting initial timing to 4 degrees BTDC. If it still pings, go to 2 degrees. With some I've seen timing set to TDC. With dual plugs the flame front progresses faster requiring later ignition timing.

I twin plugged my Le Mans 2 decades ago and retarding the advanced timing 1 tooth on the flywheel
was the setting I returned to after many variations . Keep in mind that I live in Canada and we have easy
access to 94 octane gas and that certainly plays into ignition timing and the haste of the advance curve .
