I did a search, and didn't find anything, so I thought I'd start a new thread. Hopefully this doesn't go down the path of oil and tire threads. I am looking for an engine cleaner that will get baked-on dirt off of the cylinder fins of my California 1400 without damaging the paint. I have tried Griot's Engine Cleaner to no avail. I have used Super Clean before, but it did discolor the paint on my MGB where it dripped, to the extent where I needed to polish the spots out. I figured there should be something in between the two.

Some of the commercial ones I’ve seen have a lot of varsol like stuff in them to cut/disolve grease.
i tried a can of WD degreaser on the Honda chain rings and it didn’t work worth crap… very disappointed.
