At the risk of repeating something the rest of you probably know, that 2 year Europ Assistance you got with your new Guzzi only seems to cover you for major mechanical faults like a total engine failure. How do I know? I got a puncture on the way back from Goodwood this evening....they don't cover that. However they did put me in contact with a recovery service to pick up the bike and get it to my home. Cost? £132.00. The lesson is, I need to sort out some breakdown cover tomorrow....after I've taken the back wheel out and got a new inner tube put in. :-(

I really doubt you'll find insurance - or guarantees - covering a flat anywhere, unless you loose control of the vehicle and total it...

I do like carrying repair kits like these:

They do, however, require tubeless tires.

What would have been useful would have had a copy of the policy from Europ Assistance or even the dealer, stating the extent of what is and what isn't covered so you could make alternative arrangements.

Unfortunately my V7 Classic has tubed tyres. Taking the back wheel out of this bike is more awkward than any other bike I've ever owned, and I've had a few! I know I couldn't do it with the tools I carry because I don't have space for a spanner that's man enough to undo the rear wheel nut.

There's nothing so frustrating than a puncture!!

That's interesting, as all of the 'assistance' policies I've had over the years would have covered you for a puncture, and I assumed that I was covered when using this one when the 1200 was new..... good job I didn't need it then!!

I guess the tubed tyres provide a bit of an issue for carrying an easy repair option.....

I always assumed (when my Norge was young enough) that the Guzzi breakdown only covered mechanical failure, as in the manufacturers warranty.
RAC, AA or other breakdown services will cover punctures.

I thought the rear wheel nut was 24mm. I used to carry an open-ended spanner of that size quite easily on my V50 (actually it was an old whitworth spanner I ground out to the right size). Just make sure it wasn't done up by some gorilla before you go out.
