I own a 2004 Cafe Sport. Currently it has the stock exhaust on it. I am looking to change that to an aftermarket one. However, I don't seem to be able to find real hard date or facts reguarding performance. What I am getting is that it is all personal choice.
I have looked at the Ti Moto Guzzi exhaust ,the Minstral in all it's variations and the MiVV. Is there not a definitive "best" exhaust or is it really just choice. Are there any dyno printouts available.

Thanks for the feedback.

The V11 lump, or pretty much any Guzzi motor, is a fairly under performing for its size, weight, and displacement. That said, The difference between one muffler and another is going to be more a difference in sound then power. All the power is in the head pipes and the mid-pipe/cross-over/collector. If all you are going to do is replace the mufflers then it is just a question of personal preferemce. While most systems for a V11 are just the mufflers, there are at least three different cross-overs available other then the stock one. They each have their own advantages and dis-advantages. None of them is going to turn the V11 into a power monster. Which one is best for you depends on how you ride and what you want. The Ferracci one has developed a reputation for cracking, but as it is sold by a US company it may be easier to find , at least in the US. The Mistral has the reputation for making the most power but may be hardest to find and the emphasis on top end power is not for everybody. The Stucchi seems to be the most popular, it is readily available, and it has good power improvements, especially in the mid-range. Any of the three would likely be an improvement over stock.
If your V11 has the front cross-over pipe by the heads you will need/want to replace the head pipes, either with stock pipes from an older model or better yet with Todds crack proof headers.
I think my personal choice would be either the Mistral cross-over with Todds head pipes and Todds Megaphone mufflers or one of the two into one systems from GPR ( I love the sound of a two into one system) again coupled with the head pipes from Todd. But I would rather have more top end then mid-range. The same Mistral set-up but with a Stucchi cross-over instead of the Mistral would probably a more popular choice for most street riders.

Myke, welcome to the Forum, congrats on the V11S.
GM covered most of it above. Mufflers are more personal preference. Most of them have the same internal construction, so you'll find little differences in power. My offerings are here; https://www.guzzitech.com/store/category/33-v11s.html (Store tab above as well).

For a rare Dyno documentary on the X-over, see; http://www.visi.com/~moperfserv/more_mg.htm

Fueling sorting is most important, even when bone stock. Happy to be of help/service with this as well. Contact me direct e-mail with any questions; Todd at GuzziTech.com

Thank you for the information. It seems that the way to go is with the stucchi cross over and new headers. Why are my stock headers with the crossover tube not effective?
While at this point I am inclined to go with the carbon cans, I am wondering if the two into one system has any real advantages like weight savings?
What about using a power commander when fitting on the new exhaust?

Thanks so much for the info!!

Myke, your stock headers are fine power wise, but the front crossover is useless and will leak and rattle (if not already). We've done one 2-1 system for a V11S (on my future racer), but if you're doing it for weight saving alone, it's not worth it on a 500#+ machine.
I HIGHLY recommend a Power Commander and/or my full fueling/adaptive kit as noted here; https://www.guzzitech.com/forum/208/2686.html
Happy to answer any other questions direct e-mail; Todd at GuzziTech.com

The stock front cross-over set-up works fine with the stock mid-pipe cross-over. But as mentioned it tends to rattle and develop leaks. Also, it may affect the Stucchi and you may not get quite the full improvement from the Stucchi cross-over with the front cross-over in place. It is hard to predict how it would work.....
The two into one set-up should offer a decent weight savings but as mentioned the V11 is a heavy bike and I don't think it would really be noticeable. But it does sound different as well as looking different. Personally I like the sound of a two into one system. They tend to be a little meaner sounding, a little raspier and less thudding. But in the end the difference is a matter of taste.

A company in Italy that makes exhaust pipes for Moto Guzzi V11's. You can find them on ebay and what not. Google GPR V11. I have never seen one in person and I have no idea how good or bad they are. I have seen Todds stuff and it is nice.
