Exhaust and intake port re-positioning

Does anyone know if Moto Guzzi has ever considered re-positioning the exhaust and intake ports to a conventional V twin position?
I know Mandello racing has done it before with the MAS12.

I was thinking of the benefits:

1. Proper downdraught can be achieved with the intake ports inside the engines ‘V’.

2. The engine can be moved further forward because the exhaust manifold is not in the way therefore providing better forward weight bias and shorter reach to the handle bars for the rider.

3. The engine is not getting pre-heated air hitting the cylinders because the exhaust pipes are no longer in the way of the airflow.

4. If the bike is dropped it will land on the exhaust and heat shield therefore protecting the cylinder head from damage. A much cheaper repair.

5. The fuel tank can be neatly placed behind the engine and the air box situated above the engine.

6. Air from the front of the bike can be easily directed into the engines intake ports.

7. Easier exhaust routing because bending radius is reduced. Existing Moto Guzzi exhaust pipe needs to turn 180 degrees when exiting the engine. The proposed design only requires the exhaust to turn 90 degrees.

I think it is a great idea. It could allow for much better packaging. It could be an ergonomic improvement and a performance improvement all in one. The one thing that could be tricky is keeping the exhaust pipes far enough away from the riders knees. But I think that could be achieved. The biggest advantage would be the intake tract. You could better pair up your throttle bodies, so you would not need the goofy linkage set up they currently use. And the intake tract could be shorter with a better airbox design. Buell actually did something along those lines, their XB motors made a bunch of power considering they were based on a Harley motor. And much of that was from a well designed airbox / intake setup.

Welcome. Motus is a $30k+ Made-in-the-US motorcycle company. The motor is quite impressive/intoxicating, but the price-point and the rest of the bike leave a lot to be desired IMO.

Todd, Ever thought about marrying a Motus v4 to a Guzzi frame?
