Your MIVV, how do you find the power difference and sound, I'm looking forward to trying the MIVV.

The thing runs like a scalded dog... but it did that with the stock muffler. I changed exhaust not so much for more power but to save weight and get a little more sound from the motor. The MIVV, as most of the aftermarket mufflers, saves a lot of weight. The large and long body makes for a deep tone. I typically keep my baffle installed.

    Hi
I have a Quill fitted to my 2010 Stelvio and a power commander, no CAT in the can, road legal sounds fantastic and cheep compared to a lot of stuff on the market. I went to their workshop and watched them make it and the pipe work. Have now done 22,000 miles.

Thanks. I purchased the Agostini and is beautiful but sound is same as stock even w/o cat in the exhaust. Ended up with the stainless GPR and really like the sound with the DB in and 1/2 the price. Now will see how long it lasts :)

Well, I originally installed an Agostini exhaust. I took it for less than a mile ride and the sound was very close to stock. I took out the DB killer and way too loud. So now is posted on eBay for sale if interested. Have installed the GPR exhaust and is perfect, nice pphhhhrrraaapp sound when cracking open the throttle but once underway, fairly quiet, and ½ the cost of the Agostini but suspiciously they look very similar in construction. Maybe same shop for both out of China I would assume.

Hi all, I've got a 2012 NTX bought from new here is Aus. I've recently fitted a pipe made by Australian company, Staintune here in Australia. It is full stainless steel construction, weighs significantly less than stock pipe and I think looks fully integrated with the bike when fitted - actually now getting a nice 'warm' patina to it . Really well constructed and at $700, a great price. Yes, It is louder than the stock pipe (a nice kind of loud), but does come with an easily insert-able/removable restriction piece when you want to quieten it down. The weight reduction difference is welcome but the big improvement is low to mid-range get up and go! Big kudos came at my recent service when all the mechanics commented how well it rode over the stock bike. No re-fuelling/re-mapping has been required even though of-course suffers more 'snap-crakle-pop' on throttle back-off.

A quick question if you have time

Where did you get your staintune exhaust from?

    Thanks

    Hi elf,

I bought my pipe from Motorcycle Accessories Supermarket (www.mcas.com.au). They had to order it in but took just over a week to have delivered.

There is a YouTube clip of the Staintune can on a Stelvio and it sounds very nice.

Is there any aftermarket exhaust that doesn't change the torque characteristics and doesn't need a remap or power commander? I'm just interested in saving weight. Don't want more noise either.

Doubtful any exhaust with the Cat installed will make any changes to the stock power delivery of the bike. Even exhausts w/o the Cat have minimal effect, if any, to increasing torque or horsepower. And if you go with an exhaust w/o the cat, which will save about weight, you will need a new map, either ECU or Power Commander, as the bike will run far too lean, IMHO.
