Fairing Q...

I love the classic bullet fairing but I was thinking something square and fork-mounted, like the Le Mans MKIII. After my headlight housing melted I installed a coupla square led fog lights and the headlight opening looks 1/2 ass.

Todd, thanks for the airtech link, I'll check out their fairings after dinner. John, I had thought about doing that exact mod, then the harness went up in flames and I needed something cheap, asap. Walmart had the fog lights on clearance for $12 ( I bought 3) and I had leftover slotted angle iron from my water wheel project. The fog lights are 1500lm, 17w (each). It looks strange, but it's 1000x better than the oem. Having survived a deer strike on this bike, an led headlight upgrade is the most important safety mod that can be made to a Breva, the stock headlight is a joke. I made the flyscreen from a piece of lexan I salvaged from a walmart toy display.

Do those heat sync’s at the back get very hot ?
( Plastic melts hot .)

The heatsinks don't get very hot and they will be about 15mm away from the sides of the container. The downside with this mod is the plastic isn't impact resistant like lexan or abs, I'll have to cover it with a layer of fiberglass.

Is it done yet ?

I had a setback, after reinforcing the cereal container with fiberglass it still split across the bottom when I tried attaching it to the headlight mounts. My interim fix was to gut the stock headlight and install the fog lights inside it. I hate the look, but at least the fog lights don't vibrate anymore. I'm gonna tinker with it in the morning. To minimize vibration, I would like to mount the fog lights directly to the triple tree clamps. I'll also adjust the angle of the instrument cluster to reduce glare.

I don’t thinks it looks too bad with LED lights mounted in the headlight bucket.
If you start looking around the internet there are a lot of examples where “They”have kept the 7” round head light and mounted LED’s inside of them in a multitude of ways !

Not sure that LED placement would give you a good light pattern. Also it could be blinding to oncoming traffic. I guess you will just have to try it at night.

What truly defines the characteristics of a headlight are far less the bulb type used, and mostly a function of the reflector and lens design which is utilized.

The beam pattern isn't as focused as the stock headlight assembly, but it's brighter. I haven't had any cagers flash their high beams at me, probably because they are angled toward the shoulder. Now for another dumb Q; there a 2 lugs welded to the front of the steering neck, big enough for a 10m socket head screw, what are they for?

I fabbed up a mounting plate for the gauge and during the installation the immobilizer antenna got disconnected. The gauge is a replacement that I purchased from ebay when the original shorted out 3 years ago. I've read over the "Breva one key no code" thread and tried the suggested numbers with no luck. The ebay dash didn't come with a user code and in retrospect I find it odd that the gauge didn't prompt me to enter the user code when I first in stalled it. So now I'm left with 3 options; Send the dash to the other side of the world to be reprogrammed, Buy another used dash from ebay, sell the bike for parts.
