Fat Duc for the Griso 8V

I was told that once signal closed loop has been stabilized as with fat duc or resistor in line the whole system can be tuned using the pc111. Has not been tried on guzzi but works on some ducatis.
Incorrect. Adding a resistor and fooling the ECU to think it is fueling at a different FR, will not allow full map access to via a PC. It is still relying on the sensor for correction.
Again, I watched the failure of the FatDuc resistor (on my Norge) while watching the AFR on the dyno in ~30 seconds. For those of you relying on seat-of-pants and/or the F.I. light, I highly recommend you visit a A/F dyno. The FatDuc flat-lined the AFR at >10:0:1 in short order and did not set off the FI/warning light.

Fat Duc origin of the species:

"Full richness hides the effects of cylinder charge imbalance because once the mixture is fully saturated any reasonable amount of excess fuel in the cylinder merely passes through the system unburned. Leanness, OTOH, reveals an unbalance because all the fuel is burned and thus a cylinder with a greater fuel to air ratio will produce more power than its leaner partner. A rider feels that imbalance as throbbing and vibration."

Dave, the air/fuel ratio went from decent @13~ish to rock-bottom on the air/fuel "gauge" (digital now of course) in said time above, after steady throttle, rolling on into open loop, then back down into closed loop and staying there again. It did not return to a decent level from there.

So 14-ish is normal, 10 is super rich? I always wanted to be super rich!

I suppose the Fat Duc might be like Dumbo's feather...

If you do some research into how O2 sensors work, you will find that they are not linear sensors and do not lend themselves to sensor offset tricks. Plus the way they work is in cycles, rich to lean and back to rich. They do not in normal use put out a steady state value. I'm not saying that it can't work well enough to be of value, that is a matter of opinion, but rather that there are serious issues that make it difficult to achieve anything close to proper results.
There are easier sensors to fudge then the O2 sensor.

For those of you who dont know, the fat duc is only around 80.00 bucks with a money back clause other than shipping.Cant speak from experience on 8 valve but it is on my g11 and it reeeeealy does wonders. If it doesnt work a lot of ducati owners sure are fooled.
