Anybody seen a piece like this? Found it in my oil pan of 2015 cali 1400 custom. Am trying to find out where it came from as it may be the reason i have low oil pressure and related warning.

Hmm. Looks like a one way check ball valve. Never seen that but I haven’t been on the underside or inside of a 1400 motor either.

Looks like the end of pressure sender broke off, only thing could end up in pan. AND it connects to the pan. If you have lites flashing a dead giveaway. Don't forget to delete the errors.

No threads...not a sensor.

S l500 2

Really looks like a one way valve for oil galley in the engine. Like it had been pressed in and heat expanded the opening and it fell out. If that is even possible?

There is a temp sensor also but nothing that's pressed in. It doesn't have a spacer like the 1200. He'll have to take the filter & pick up apart. Dig deeper.

Is it a pressed in plug for a oil way drilling that either
A) dropped out
B) was dropped by Luigi when he built the engine and not found

....... I should have read Scott's earlier reply better as this is exactly what he suggested 😳

If indeed it is supposed to be plugging an oil passage way - that certainly would explain his oil pressure issue !
Next - where does it belong ?

I stumbled upon something on MG Cyle's site. Breather check valve. Part#28150560. It is for models up till 2002, but looks very similar in their pictures. Aids crankcase breathing. Should logically have a ball and spring in it.

Guzzi did away w/that w/Hydro's & crank vent on front cover, CARC's are vented elsewhere too.
There is a pushed in piece w/oring between pan & oil filter system when you bolt pan to block. No way for it to come out.
OP still hasn't replied.

this is great feedback - thanks everyone. I was leaning more towards some sort of checkvalve to allow oil to valves etc during low idle and the checkvalve bearing helping to keep it there. Whatever it is it definately is related to the low oil pressure and related warnings. 25,000kms on the engine, first problem. Going to pull out the shop manual and magnifying glass.

It that a steel ball/bearing or Glass??, I keep wondering if someone lost tip off their borescope that got broke off when they ticked over the engine to see something....??

quick update - have order new gaskets + oil pump assembly to have engine put back together. Apparently uncommon for oil pump failure but may as well replae while engine is apart vs dissappointmet later. Thanks for all the feedback on this
