I need to invest in either....any opinions would be appreciated.... keen on a sheepskin rug however rain, rain and more rain.......

I'm a former sheep skin user. Note the white seat on my SP. Now I use the Air Hawk, the updated version. I selected air based on some my friends with gel pads comments, they said the gel pads get hot sometimes. I wear ultra light wool underclothes to keep cool.

The right amount of air makes a big difference, so experiment till you get it right.

I use Bundaberg rum & coke, McDonalds, chocolate and anything else that gives me a fat arse,
that way it don't matter where I sit, it is always comfortable. :silly:

I can't believe Stelvio people could ever complain about this seat! Coming from an F800GS I am in ass heaven.

Take it to an upholsterer and get it done properly. I think mine cost £35, unless you know stelvio's well it doesn't look any different.

I bought a set of Airhawks for my EV, for me and the wife.
What a waste of good money. Luckily I was able to sell them.
I still haven't found anything that beats a sheep skin.

One thing I did learn about sheep sheep shin is that the thickness makes a big difference. I started out with a thick sheep skin car seat cover then replaced it with a small sheep skin from Ikea. It had shorter fur so the comfort level was reduced substantially after a long day ride.

I picked up a sheepskin cover from Alaska Leather last year for the cross country trip. I did it mostly for anti sweat/monkey butt protection, but liked it so much, that I leave it on all the time. Very comfy.

They make a dual sport version that fits the Stelvio pretty nicely.

I use a lambs wool cover. I originally bought it for use on my BMW R1150gs, but it will fit the Stelvio ok. It was from the 'Alaskan Butt Pad co'. The picture shows my new model NTX with the passenger seat portion of the pad fitted to the front of my seat (it was easier to fit and remove than the original front part)

I use undies from gonso; padded - for use on pushbikes. Works very well on my Centauro!

Thanks for all the replies... seem's trial and error I guess?? Will start with the cheapest option for the interim period.... spend a bit to much on bike bits of last two weeks.....missus is getting bit peeed.... (so much for building a kitchen extension this summer..) hows the extension coming on??...no idea but my Stelvio goes like the clappers!!
......on a serious note, opting for the sheep-skin option and since thickness matters...
