Just bought a cheap new camera for use on rides. Tried four different mounting options, which do you thing is the best location?

1. Turn signal stalk
2. Helmet (1:14)
3. Tank (3:17, accidentaly set mic to high, sounds terrible)
4. Front fender (4:30)

:woohoo: I finally figured this video posting thing out!!!

I like the tank and helmet view the best, however once you hit about 75 you can feel the camera pushing the helmet slightly. overall it wasn't too bad though.

This is what we're talking about

I've seen one for sale ... in a restaurant 5min from my place, of all places :)

The front fender is actually a rather nice idea. I'd have to see if I can't attach my Oregon Scientific cam there...

Just wondering, do you have a remote control cable??

Unfortunately it does not have a remote cable, pretty much turn it on and go. Records a little over 50 minutes of Video on a 2GB storage card (which is the highest capacity it will recognize). I can reach the button easily in all the locations tested except the front fender. It's a little hard to press on the helmet mount as well because you can't see the button easily.

It's not great at anything, but it is very small and let's you capture some ride footage pretty affordably.

One note, follow the recommendations, the issue with batteries that I had related to using akaline batteries which don't like vibration and the camera just shuts off. They reccomend NiMH rechargable of Lithium, Just bought the NiMH and will try that next.

Nice. Ive seen handfuls of people using these now. Fun reverb/vibration sound on the stalk... and hey, that GT-RX R/S sounds sweet.

Helmet cam always gives the best POV. I just a lipstick cam with remote mic, so I should be able to start doing some fun filming again. I'll likely experiment with camera positioning as well. I'll post and we can compare. ;)

Next up for you Chris, is to ride the great roads East of you towards Ojai (Cerro Noroeste, Lockwood Valley, 33, etc.) - problem is 50 minutes ain't gonna do it. :side:

That's what extra SD cards and batteries are for. I didn't even bother to turn the camera on during the freeway and straigt portions of the Pozo ride. Unfortunatly the camera only stayed on for 4 minutes due to the wrong batteries.

On of the guys here is planning a ride like you mentioned but apparently the gas stations in Cuyama and Maricopa have closed. We are trying to look into the routes and make sure we don't get stranded!

Chris
