I joined the forum a few days ago, and have joined in a few discussions, so I'd best introduce myself. I got my Guzzi, a V7II Special in blue, a month ago. My last bike was a 1954 Velocette MSS, sold three years ago, and before that a Norton EL4. Going further back there've been Triumphs, a Yamaha and another Piaggio machine, a 125cc Vespa.
I wanted something new and reliable (looking through some of the posts here maybe I should have listened to my wife's urgings and bought a BMW). I wanted something with a retro air. The Bonnie was considered, and the Indian Scout, so why did the V7 win? Well, when I was 14 my dad bought a Guzzi Zigolo. He promised me that when I was 16 it would be mine. He sold it when I was six months short of sixteen, and bought a NSU Quickly moped. I suspect my mother had a hand in it, as she later persuaded him to sell the Norton 88 we shared. So, I've finally got that Guzzi I was promised, and like me, it's grown up (a little). I love it.
Ride safe.

2000 miles on the clock. I've changed the rear shocks and the levers. The shocks were too hard and the levers a bit of a stretch. The seat is feeling less uncomfortable as either it or I have got broken in. No problems and a lot of fun.
I love the riding position on the Guzzi. I took a Scout out in October, just for fun. The position was very different. I liked it around town (that's the poseur in me coming out) but I can cruise at 75mph on a busy motorway on the V7. Once I got over 60 on the Scout the wind buffeting was really bad. I didn't feel as happy on the windy lanes either.
