Good day.

Tried to search something that is related to my problem but could not find anything too specific.

Last year arr Sept, were riding in the city and had to make kind of quick stop as car in front of me suddenly stopped and to hit breaks, after idling 30 sec made a turn and revved up and my dash shut down, also headlight and blinkers dd not work. Note that parking lights were on so not total black out, but as it was night it was still pretty dark to drive. Arrived safely home, as the high beam was working when holding down the "blinking button", and it was possible to drive as no weird sounds or smoke came anywhere out.

Next day started bike noticed error on the dash APMG 0022, dash lit up but when I started the bike dash shut down, also same that blinkers and head light did not lit, only parking light was on. Later even dash didn't light up anymore when turning the key, but motor was still working and no problems to star the engine. Also, no problems with riding. I tried to read all possible forums and as my knowledge about motorcycle electronics is 0 i took it to shop, a Guzzi shop here in my country. I was not in rush they took their time and eventually bike was up and running. After I received my bike back they put straight "mass" to the dash to light it up, so battery has 1 extra cable on now.

About month or so tried to start the bike, but due condensation and previous owner poor handling(gas tank overflow pipe was full of dirt and water could not go anywhere), bike had some water in gas tank, so back to shop where they removed tank and emptied it, replaced gas filter, but another electrical problem, gas pump did not get power which means another direct current to battery from the pump so now I got three cables on + side. Well, the bike works, dash works, light works, blinkers work. But yesterday understood that now the fuel light doesn't work, so had to walk to gas station with my "hot Italian girlfriend".

Anyone knows/has idea what sort of electrical cabling and issues I might have here and how serious is the problem? Feedback from the shop was that some thing is rotten, but it’s ok to ride the bike, just trying to figure out is’ it easily repairable or whole cabling needs to go through and will take whole winter to test them cable out…

Check around the head stock as there is a lot of movement there and some wiring could have worn, also you say it happened after heavy braking, well with the forks taking a dive that could have been the last straw for the wiring in that area.

Also if you make a donation to the site, you will have access to colorized schematics in the download section that will help in your troubleshooting.

I don’t understand this. It doesn’t make sense.

How is power regulated on and off to these components now if they are directly wired to the positive (+) battery post?

Something here doesn’t add up.

Agree 100%. As we say this guy just "farmered it up" to get it to work instead of making the correct repair.
