Last Saturday I put the Griso in the garage and put the steering lock on as usual, unfortunately one notch too far and left the parking light on. Doh!

I came to use the bike on Tuesday and the battery was flat. I put the Optimate on (after unhooking the battery) and it started up no problem on Wednesday.

The problem was that the speedo had reset to 0 kilometres. Jason at Moto Strada checked with the Guzzi technical department and they to have claimed never heard of this problem before on a Guzzi, only early Aprilia Milles.

It can't have the mileage put back to the former fugure however it can be changed from km to miles.

Apparently the new 1400 California will have the capacity for the dealer to change the mileage!

Anyone heard of this problem before?

Is it right that I can't put the old mileage (42000miles) back on the odo? Thanks

Andrew

There have been reports of this on the forum before. Rare but it has happened before, and may very well again.

Not the exact same situation, but the 2007 Griso I just bought apparently had to have the speedo replaced at some point. Therefore, the odometer is several thousand miles off because they couldn't reset it to display the correct mileage either.

From what I have read around here it seems you are pretty lucky to have it zeroed and counting as others have seen it stuck at some arbitrary high number.
