Griso died

Just to say that I rode the bike out of the showroom in 2006.
I traded in my V11 for the griso.
I have never had the urge to sell her or buy any other bike she just ticks all the boxes for me.
But I'd love to have another V11 but the wife pulls the strings in my world. Apparently a loft conversion on the house is more important than a 2nd guzzi as much as I beg to differ...

Thgil, you think like I do.

My position is this: Both hoses have been in play and submersed in petrol for 11+ years. I consider such things as "points of long term maintenance" in that I prefer to replace them BEFORE failure, because that part "failure" is likely to occur according to Murphy's Rules of Catastrophe, i.e. at the worst time and at the worst possible place.

So, now that you are en "expert" at removing the unit, measure the flex hose, get on the internet and order another one of the correct size, and swap it out, and then go motorcycling with the knowledge that your hoses in the petrol tank are in good shape for the likely remainder of the service life of the motorcycle!

Cheers!

Thanks Scott.
Can I use the same hose to replace the longer one?
I don't see why not.
Fuel hose is fuel hose?
The longer black ribbed one is much thinner wall thickness than the transparent shorter hose, would the clamps tighten it enough?
I can now remove the tank in 15mins flat! Pump out and all.
Not bad for a Plumber !
The hardest thing I found was connecting the overflow pipe from the fuel cap and the breather.
Fiddly as!
Thgil.

Sure, you can. Here in the US, that pesky submersible hose is approximately $29 per 10 inches! If that crinkly hose is longer than 10 inches, then I would have to special order a piece of submersible fuel line and it would be EXPENSIVE. Those crinkle sumbersible fuel line on Ebay are about $10 each in all sorts of sizes.

It's up to you. I suspect that's why the factory used 2 different hoses was due to cost. Besides, I think the submersible fuel line is better suited to the small length piece, while the crinkly one bends in the larger radius better. The other fuel line may not take the bend well and actually collapse.

Point to ponder.

Just out of interest what is the ribbed pipe called or oem number.
I rang one of our uk guzzi spares in the uk and they told me that they couldn't get it (gutsibits)
So if there's a part number that you or anyone knows would help,as I can't find it.
Regards
Thgil.

Sorry Scott you were ahead of me then with your reply

I wrote it in the post...

"flex in-tank fuel pump hose " - USA

"fuel flex hose" - UK

Search Ebay with that, you'll find it.

Makes sure you have measured the diameters of the two connection points and order the correct length hose as well as the correct inner diameter flared ends.

Not related but, why do people always feel the need to hide their license plate number? It hangs out in the wind 99% of the time, visible to all around but if you take a picture of your bike, you have to hide it for some reason...LMAO. Do strange people somehow "track you down" based upon your plate, and come raid your liquor cabinet during the night? :mm:

I just don' get it.

It prevents a vehicle being cloned.

For example, if a criminal has stolen a vehicle, they can search the internet for a photograph of the same make, model and colour. They copy the plate and are then free to drive around.

In the UK there are instances of people who want to avoid being caught by traffic cameras, they clone a vehicle and the real owner gets the fines. Sometimes it’s difficult for the real owner to convince the authorities they are not responsible.

However, it's more likely to happen to a car, not a Griso, but who knows!

I find it a handy place to keep a clean rag.
I'm with you Grrg!
Any way got the hose and filter and some good clamps all back up running. So a big thanks to all of you guys for your help!!!
Only now a couple of times I get this come up on clocks SERVICE and triangle with ! In.
It's never happened before so I checked previous posts and a lot of it was about oil pressure switch. If I turn off then on again it does not come up on dash.
Admittedly I topped her up with oil, I always assumed you had to screw the dip in not just place it back.(Never assume anything)
I've now turned ignition on fired up and off 8 times and not showing???

Thgil, If you do your own oil and filter changes, it helps to fill the filter with oil before you install. This can prevent the Service triangle from appearing on the first start up.

Hi John.
I think because I had the bike on the hepco Becker stand for a week now it may have let the oil level as the back wheel is off the ground.
Thanks John.
I have 800mm of this submersible fueline left.
If anyone in the uk needs the 75mm of pipe required to change what I had to let me know and I'll post it out for free!
All I ask is a contribution to this site.
Thanks again guys I'd of been stuck without all the advice!!

Just to let you all know!
I've put some aprilia arrow indicators on the griso!
Took 20 minutes! Just stripped down the old ones and the spade connections fitted. The rears fitted fine on the brackets that I have.
There is a slight difference to the front ones which mount the headlight bracket as shown in pics. But this doesn't bother me!
Looks so much better!!!
As I hate chrome!!!
