Griso replacement headlight bulb question

Anyone replace their stock Griso or MG headlight bulb with the PIAA Extreme H4 or equivalent GE product?

I have been told by people that it may adversely effect your bikes electrical system and that the wiring in bikes often does not support these type of lights.

Any thoughts?

You'll be A-OK with either of those. The PIAA claim to wattage is marketing so it will still draw the same current as any other off-the-shelf 55/65 bulb.
Hella, et al, make higher wattage bulbs and those are always listed as "for offroad use only". e.g. I have a couple Hella 55/100 bulbs that I used to run in my wife's Forester but they played hell with the DRL module so I pulled them out.
If you want to run a true higher watt bulb you would want to run a relay harness to feed it. That would use larger gauge wire fed directly from the battery and the light switch would now operate the relay.

just watch for the over wattage bulbs, the ones over 65 watts tend to melt, bits in bike head light assys. I have never had any issue tiht the 65watt, (60 is stock) but I have seen a ruined vstrom head light module from an 85 watt bulb.

ps you cant have a 65watt lamp that draws 60watts. the current draw is the current draw. the game the bulb makers play is saying this 60 watt bulb is as bright as brand x 65 watt bulb( ie lumens at a distance etc etc etc) as far as the bike is concerned it only cares what it draws current wise (wiring and switch gear). and how much heat is generated (lamp housing)
