I have a 06 Griso, almost 3 years old, it will be at the end of March. Love it to bits. I have had a dash error for quite a while(couple of months), which I saw to be a stepper motor problem, and after reading many notes about the stepper, and others that have taken it out of the system, and the fact the popping has gone from my mistral pipe.

I took it in this week to have the error cleared and to see if it would come back.... it did... booked it for the 40k service, and to investgate further....

Yup the stepper apears to be not working. $600.00 bucks approx to get a new one... though it will work fine with out, just means it will have trouble idling cold, which is the case.

Trying to search for somthing second hand with no luck as yet...

The bike still runs great, and fuel econo' is still sweet. Though for resale it would be good to have it right.

Any one know of anything second hand about, or any other solutions?

I'm wondering if it'd be possible to transplant the Breva? fast idle gizmo/lever onto the Griso? Both my 1100 and the 8v have given me troubles in cold weather starting. The 8v had it's stepper changed under warranty, due to the cold start problems....Mind you even that didn't much of an improvement, I still have to keep my hand on the throttle for the first couple of minutes :S

I'm sure there must be a solution.

I came to the conclusion that the stepper motor on these Griso's were an issue when my Griso was revving near 2500rpm's in June of 2008. When I unplugged the pig tail the engine settled down to where it should be idling at, however the red warning light came on and remained on, so I reconnected the connection.
My question to you is, how did you by pass the stepper motor? I took it out of the vacuum link between the 2 throttle bodies and added a T section. The reason for the T, is that I had also removed the air box/battery plate and made a new battery holder out of carbon fiber. Works fantastic with this and the K&N filters.
Anyway, any input from you about what you had done to remove the stepper motor will be very much appreciated.

Thank you for all of your time.
