I'd be interested in the #1 option with powder-coating on both pieces

    for my 16' v7II stone

Thanks for the input guys. One each I see. Let me get together some preliminary designs and cost to show/pass along here. Will try to get to it over the weekend.

I'd even be open to the idea of a nice metal insert that would replace the plastic one with the current valve covers. Not sure that's even possible with a friction fit as they're designed, but I just want to be rid of the plastic.

That was the first thing I looked at back in 2013. My machinist said far too costly to produce because of the angles, shape and thickness, in addition to the way to hold it on via friction or bolt.

That's about what I figured, but worth a thought. Thanks.

    Hey Todd,

Just popping my head in to see if there's still interest in making this happen. I'm refurbing a set of used covers I found now, I'm committed. :)

Still working on it. A bit slower then anticipated as I've been busy with other large projects. I'll post soon on it.

I'm a bit late coming into this thread, but I've been scouting for an alternative to the current covers on the V7 II's and was happy to see this being discussed. I'd be quite interested in the spacer/head guard version, and for myself would prefer an anodize finish more than powder coat. Any thoughts on that? I'm looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Welcome, worthy of note, OEM stock V7 Racer valve covers come chrome plated.
Assume you want both valve cover and spacer plate the flat black that is stock on the '13-current V7s, yes?

If I can get a count on those wanting those, I can ship everything together.

Does the raw aluminum match the cylinder head? Probably not. If not, then gloss black for me.

It does not, because the heads and cylinders are powder-coated, and no I can't match them (I've tried). Gloss black, so noted.

Something close to matching the cylinder block. Standard V7 valve covers (chrome?) are good for me.

OK, cylinder block is a satin black, easy enough. Got it.

    Todd,

I meant to type cylinder, not cylinder bock - my bad. I'm hoping the spacer will be mistaken for a cooling fin by the untrained eye so it would be the same color as a the other cooling fins. To briefly re-state my goal - I'm working to get the V7 to look more like an original 750-S3, again so the untrained eye will mistake it for the original.

    Mike
