Being a much larger than average rider, 6'3", 34" inseam, about 100lbs more than an "average rider" I initially didn't think the V7 would work for me, after being encouraged by our local, excellent dealer, to ride the 9 and the 7 I found I liked the 7 more. And having researched aftermarket parts and multiple Guzzi forums (especially this one) I knew I could tweak more for comfort. Besides the obvious need to lose more weight (down about 30 lbs despite a pandemic)I started tweaking my V7 for me

Some comfort mods I did that worked:
  • Peg lowers 1 3/8"
  • Custom Rear shocks with +20 mm
  • Handlebar adjust
  • Drop front forks
This put me in a more comfortable riding position but I knew I had to do something about the seat to reach the next level. I bought a Guzzi comfort Gel to use while my seat was potentially being reworked.

Researched all the options out there over a few months (so many tweaks you can do to the 7, My last bike had almost zero so I went overboard! so I was a little cash strapped). I knew I didn't want the seat to be lower, I wanted to either smooth out or move back the passenger hump and I knew I wanted black leather. After reviewing all the options and getting some quotes I went for a GTM seat rework. Really all the prices with my wanted options were in the same ball park. What clenched it was the fact that I know GTM knows my bike. After purchasing several items I knew they would build me something not only high quality but that would be perfect for my bike.

I'm not disappointed. I got exactly what I wanted. And now I'm comfortable. No tailbone pain! At all. The stock was okay for awhile but I'd start to feel it. The Comfort Gel was a little better giving me a little more comfort time. My new GTM seat is just a little taller and man, I don't feel any pain. Granted I haven't done and all day trips thanks to the weather. but two hours straight and I'm still good is a big improvement.

Not to mention the seat looks perfect. Really!

Now I'm ready for some planned moto-camping and long trips next year. Can't wait!
