guess this road......

Rattlesnake Grade.

WA 129 heads south from Clarkston, WA/Lewiston, ID then enters Oregon as OR 3 then down to Enterprise and Joseph, Or.
Joseph is such a cool little town with western era statues placed all along their main street. They also host a number of custom car shows annually.

I'll post more pics of that ride in a bit, then hit you with other roads.

2. Welcome to Oregon. I was packing a spare tire with me.
3. 4. Joseph, Oregon.
I'm going back.
Getting there is half the fun. Going home is the other half.

Cool, but you gave in too soon. ;)

I was going to guess Oregon -- without a clue, of course, as to why or where -- but googled "Gobbler's Knob" and saw that was a peak and pass area in Utah. Figured you might have gotten that far. I've been there, but not to Oregon, and saw some terrain as in your first pic. Have a set of kids and grands moving to Portland in a few months, so I might get to see it, too.

We -- i.e., in Winchester, Virginia -- have a similar motif in the sense that the area is full of apple "statues," stemming (NPI!) from the Apple Blossom Festival and related activities. Here are some examples:

Yeah, but I'm incredibly impatient right now. No patience for anyone or anything.
I bought my '07 Norge back on March 7 and I can't ride it. Can't even sit on it. It's 400 Km away and I'm waiting very impatiently for the weather to smarten up. Not unlike the winter blues with Parked Motorcycle Syndrome.
Maybe next weekend.

Nice apples Bill. But near where I live they are turning many orchards into vineyards. Grapes have a different effect on me then apples.

Okay, let's try this again. Here's another from one of our many trips.

OK, I'll bite (again):

Trans-Canada Highway (or, possibly, 1A) vic. Lake Louise?

As for your near-but-so-fornicating-far Norge, you'll soon have it. Then you can chase down and fix oil leaks as I have spent past week doing. Latest was from low alternator cover attachment hole. Must be thin-walled back in there. RTV fixed, but a mess.

Mebbe we really need a "Guess This Leak" thread, too. :giggle:

Ah, wrenching ... still cheaper than wenching ... I think. ;)

Bill

You guys got to quit this tormenting. I scare easy when it comes to oil leaks.
I bought a Moto Guzzi, not a Harley, or do I have to also buy a MG apron, find a wrench or two and get my hands dirty.
Did you all forget that I rode a Gold Wing for over 150,000 km and the only time there was oil on the ground was when I changed it every fall. Yeah, I always spilled a bit, dirty and clean.

Btw, this post is a little off topic. The road in question:

The Icefields Parkway, between Jasper and Lake Louise. Alberta.

...I bought a Moto Guzzi, not a Harley, or do I have to also buy a MG apron, find a wrench or two and get my hands dirty...

Comparing a Goldwing to a Moto Guzzi is like comparing store bought dry pasta to handmade fresh pasta. They are two different things entirely. Besides, everybody knows that to make fresh pasta, you have to be willing to open a sack of flour, crack open a few eggs, and get your hands a little dirty for funs sake! LOL.

In keeping with the spirit of my prior post :giggle:, and seeing that this thread has been quiet of late, here's an offering.

Answers saying "Burger King" will be viewed as non-responsive.

So ... any takers? There are sufficient hints within the photo to take you there.

And, there, btw, while not on a world-renowned road, is certainly rewarding riding outside of the burg itself.

OBTW, worth a visit if only to chat with the comely counter lass who gushed, "I just love motorcycles." Not yet 40ish, so too young to be interesting ;), but still quite a attractive young person.

Nice view out the window but I just couldn't take my eyes off the pancakes for 89cents poster. Here in Menorca there are only two BK, no KFC and no McD Lots of fine tapas though.

OK, thought I'd wake up this thread even though few seem to give it much thought.

Oh, just had (homemade) pancakes and that reminded me.

So, as for the last road from the "pancake window." I took the photo from inside the BK in Tyrone, Pa., while on a ride from our home up to Carlisle Barracks (where our Army family had just moved to from Fort Bragg) and back. In no hurry, I had a fine time sightseeing.

In this case, the road was this, especially the "Kettle Road" section, a wonderfully picturesque and historic romp. No, not "the Dragon" or Passo dello Spluga, it was a joy for me that day.

Now, given your abysmal performance with that one -- OK, OK, mebbe I was unfair :giggle: -- let's see if anyone gives this a try:

UNADJUSTEDNONRAW thumb 4545

Yes, I was a passenger in a cage there in September, but hope to return someday soon on two wheels.

Saw lots of motorcycles on this road, but -- nary a Guzzi; all beemers and, sigh, Harleys.

Any takers on a guess or two?

Bill
