Hi All,

Just signed up after buying a California Vintage a few weeks ago. Really pleased with the bike, but there are a few bits to sort out that hopefully you guys can help with!

First up though, any advice on reputable mechanics in the York/Leeds area. I'm not far from Teasdales in Thirsk and have no complaints with work they did on my Kawasaki, but would be interested to hear how well they understand Guzzi's if anyone has any experience?

Thanks in advance,

Ade.

Just a few odds and ends, mainly missing or mismatched bolts, paint issues plus some accessories I'd like to fit better. I do have an odd and very tiny click on the front wheel, it feels like the steering bearings are loose when you first feel it, but I can't feel any play in the normal test. Think a wheel bearing is on the way out?. I've got a bit of a weave in fast sweepers too, but tweaking the suspension has almost dialed that out and the click could be contributing.

Don't worry I won't be shy about asking for help when I get stuck :)

Welcome.

Moto Strada in Shipley (just west of Leeds) are Guzzi specialists.

Welcome Adrian
I go to Gutsibits for my parts mainly and if they haven't got it Twiggers
And guzziriders.org for my local forum stuff (rideouts)

See you out there maybe

Thanks Guys,

I popped into Moto Strada when I was shopping for my Cali. I found them very helpful but expensive. I would go back if only to look at the bikes they were customising :)

AndyP, Thanks for the tip. I'm on Guzziriders too, maybe we will catch up.

Turns out the front wheel bearings were at fault so I replaced them. At the same time I took the front mudguard apart, gave it a thorough clean and polish and learned that the mudguard stays are fractionally different lengths only obvious when you put the thing back together...

Question(s). There are two almost identical spacers either side of my front wheel. One is all welded construction and the other has a circlip on it and looks like it could come apart though I can;t think of a reason why it might.

1. Why are they made differently and does it really matter which side of the wheel they go?
2. The spacers don't have any kind of a bearing cover on them, which means the bearing inner and outer races are visible as is the black bearing seal. Is this normal? There definitely wasn't anything on there when I took the wheel out, but then again I found a circlip missing so have a slight worry I've inherited an amateur mechanic's machine?

If the spacers are different lengths, it does matter where they go. Spacers center the wheel between the forks and will align the brake rotors to the calipers.
