My name is Fredrik and i live near Stockholm in Sweden.

Found a 2010 1200 Sport 8V with only 7000 km, sold for the first time 2014 and got rollerised late 2020, the second owner convinced Piaggio to make the change and he succeeded just because he was a long term customer. Guzzi nordic didn´t know about the problem that could occur with the flat tappet or didn´t want to know.

Made some basic checks and discovered bad spark caps, some oil leakage and lose iteams in the left cylinder head .
Dowel pin

I´m 99,8 % sure that it is a dowel pin from when the bike was rollerised, I´m sure that they fitted type C on my bike. But there is no damage, the dowel pin was laying under the upper exhaust spring with no contact with the spring. Previous owner only did 1250 km after the rollerisation.

I could only test the bike one short trip and one longer in November before winter came.
Left side has some oil leakage hopefully not from the cylinder head, and right cylinder head is more noisy than the left

The plan for winter is to give it a large service, check the CARC bearings, drop the oil pan and spacer to change the upper gasket, check the timing chain tensioners and a lot more.

I will probably order the full pc6/AT etc.
Have definitely found the right motorcycle.

Welcome.
Check the oil hose on the left valve cover. They like to crack (both sides actually). Set the valve clearances too.

I did found some cracks in the left crankcase breather hose next to the oil/air condenser when I lifted the tank to check the banjo bolt for the oil cooler.
Did a quick repair just to be able to take a longer test ride, but the oil leakage from left side/cylinder/head/oil pressure switch/something etc. was spreading along my left boot.

Valve clearances was 0,15/0,20, adjusted to 0,10/0,15. Right side has a bit more valve clatter than the left side, next step is to replace the oil spacer gasket and the right timing chain tensioner.
Talked to a well reputed workshop to perform a compression- and leakdown test just to be on the safe side, they mainly work on Aprilia but but are old school mechanics and rebuild engines in house.

Winter is long and the season usually start beginning of april, I have a lot time to spend on the to do list.

Nothing happening here...

I was hoping to get some time off from work during late jan and feb and start the winter project with the bike, then reality wanted me back to work just because Mr P and his invasion affect the industri i´m in.

Talked to the workshop today doing a leakdown test and download the latest engine map, finally i can get started.
Leakdown test is done just to verify the status of the engine, don´t trust the previous workshop when they left lose parts up in the cam cover.
