When I first bought my Griso I would experience a high idle problem that lots of people on here described. After the bike is warmed up when you come to a stop the idle only comes down to about 2k unless you put a slight load on the engine by letting out the clutch in gear. Then the idle will drop down. The problem disappeared for a while after the first service and then suddenly reappeared about 6 months ago.

Separately, I had read on here about people seeing benefits from removing the evap canister and the tip-over valve. I got some free time over the weekend and decided to take them off. Lo and behold the high idle appears to have disappeared!

Since the problem had gone away before I don't want to give complete credit to removing the canister and top-over valve but maybe removing it makes the stepper motor less finicky?

Not sure what conclusions to draw, just talking out loud. I wish I had checked the throttle body sync before I did anything. Oh well.

Check that your throttle linkage is free and working properly. Returning to the stop every time. Also make sure the opening cable for the TB does have a little slack, but not much. Also the closing cable may have too much slack. If all of this is correct, then it may well be a stepper motor issue.

Yeah, all those things appear fine. The idle is perfect now though.

Check your TP set screw (the sacred screw) for a blob of paint on the end, if its not there then someone may have messed with it. This turned out to be the culprit on my buddy's B11. Your Griso's symptoms don't seem to point to the sacred screw but it shouldn't be ruled out.
