I made myself a Topcase, just for vacation or long trips with 2 up.
Original topcase contains just 38 liters and my new one is 60 liters.
As i already changed my Original exaust for an aftermarket one i also saved some kilogramms.
Original exaust is 8,4 kg and the aftermarket one is 3,3 kg.
So, that makes 5 kg's difference, which would allow me imo to carry a little more Luggage with me. But i will not store haevy stuff in the topcase, just a lot of light stuff.
It is also not suitable for high speed rides on the motorway/highway, bust just made for nice countryroads. I hate motorways/highways and for my tours i use just the nicer backways.
I agree, it is not the most beautifull one, but it is for sure a practical/functional one.
Last week i tested the topcase while my wife and me made a weektour to Berlin.
We did partly highway and for the rest backroads and all was very stable up to 130 km/h.
During this testride we got a lot of rain and the topcase is pretty tight, but before we started i also drilled 4 little holes in the bottom for draining the water if it might come in.

Enjoy the pics.

Louis

Nice work, Louis! Is the black colored material aluminum, or some sort of plastic composite?
Hi Phil

It is a sort of light weight plastic composite with niches and is 9 mm thick.
It is also used to make flight-cases.

Interesting Top Case.

Are you going to be fabricating something for the wood pieces that make the top trunk level?
