How do the Tonti frames differ?

While I'm happy with the looks of my LM1000, I quite fancy the idea of giving it a different look - a second set of clothes if you like - as and when the mood takes me. I particularly like the look of the V7 Sport seat and sidepanels, for example, and I wondered if it would be possible to swap bits over from various Tontis without needing to attack the frame - something I won't do.

Knowing any differences would also make it easier for me to find aftermarket bits like rear mudguards and tanks. I've half a mind to create a cafe racer, perhaps using the tank from a modern V7 (if it'll fit). But mainly I need to know what other Tonti Guzzi bits will fit my frame, so that I can buy secondhand and alter to my whim.

The carb Tontis pretty much have everything you need to adapt the older style V7 tank. The frame still has the threaded spots on the head stock for the bumpers for the front of the tank. The newer small block V7 tanks might fit, but there's no way to get around the in tank fuel pump, which I'm not sure what you'd do with it anyway. All of the older body parts are adaptable. It's not easy, but can be done. Also parts are getting painfully expensive these days, but it sounds like a fun project. I did one based on a '02 Stone, and I'm working on another conversion using a '00 Jackal, using the new V7 body work. It's a major project to take on, but it has a great pay off in the end. Post again.

Looks like most of the brackets on the subframe are only bolted on, which is good. I think maybe I'll use the original tank for now, and make a seat base to fit the frame, then get it made by a pro. Then it's a case of sidepanels (there's quite a bit to hide under them), mudguards, headlight and clocks. I've got an image in my head of what it could look like now; not quite what I initially envisaged, but it should still look good.
