hugger

Has anyone tried a Stucchi hugger? I'd like to know if it had a good fit and see some pics of the mounting? Thanks!

I bought a Hugger for my Breva 1100 from Twiggers in the UK, it originally came from Skidmarx. After a few months a small crack appeared in the fibre glass by the bottom mount. I contacted Skidmarx, sent them a couple of photos and within a few days a brand new complimentary, all postage paid Hugger appeared at my door in New Zealand. Fitting was a breeze and I run Pilot Road 2 and no rubbing. A definate must for keeping the paintwork on the CARC free from chips and the suspension linkage like new. Terrific service from Skidmarx.

I opted for the Carbon type and had a few issues with it rubbing. Took about 3 goes to get it right. Also replaced the plated
N & B with stainless and remade the lower bracket in stainless too. My gripe is that I don't think it's long enough. I'd like a lot more of the tyre covered. I plan to make a soft extension at the front to keep more crud off the shock even tho' I have a 'Shock
Sock' on it already.

Kevin: how long after you bought was it you contacted Skidmarx about the damage? I think I read an earlier report about them replacing the whole hugger for this issue ... which mine also has since a year at least (doesn't seem to go any further with a bit of fibre-glass reinforced tape, nor cause any issues).

About re-manufacturing or replacing the bracket, can anyone post a bit more info? I found mine broken too, last week. A zip-tie around the CARC seems to hold everything together well enough, but that's hardly elegant (even for a Guzzi :silly:)

I guess it breaks partly because fixed directly to a part that must see quite a bit of vibration when riding. It probably ought to be made out of something much more elastic ... or be damped by a bit of rubber under the horizontal part? Not knowing the length of the bolt that holds it onto the CARC and the swing-arm together, I don't know how much extra width one can insert there?

Also, are there any special precautions to observe when removing the bolt? Torque value? Does it carry any of the bike + rider's weight, or does it serve only to keep the 2 parts of the swing arm together?

Bought the skidmarx hugger through mot int install is very easy with everyday wrenches.I decided to paint the brkts black before installing, guess it is up to each one but I really like mine!Have had no problems with rubbing on tire is very easy to adjust as needed.
