Im in the middle of a weekend trip and a strange sound has developed when I hit the throttle on my ‘08 Norge. It sounds like it’s coming from the dash area, and only when I twist the grip. It happens even when I’m not moving (not a bearing). Almost like the sound of air passing through a hole, but it also sounds electronic? The clutch does not effect it. Brakes don’t seem to either.

Sorry to be so vague but it’s difficult to describe. I’m not sure if it is happening only at low revs - it may be or the sound of the exhaust may be drowning it out.

Any thoughts?

My friends Breva had a weird noise emanating from the dash area. turned out to be the bracket that holds the instrument cluster. It was vibrating a a certain rpm, we loosened and re positioned it, been ok ever since.

Same happened early on with my 1200 Sport - think I had to add a rubber washer or two to dampen the vibration. Good ever since...

Now that I'm home and had a chance to inspect it a little closer, I can hear that the noise is coming from the gas cap opening. I had recently installed a (GuzziTech) Givi ring adaptor and it must be causing a vacuum leak. It sounds like air is getting sucked into the tank and vibrating like a kazoo when it does. I'll need to look into how to seal the leak.

If you have pressure there, tank suck, you have a clogged evap can circuit. There should be none. Evap system is well covered in this section on this model.
