Hi fellas,

i have read a little on the forum here about some possible fueling issues with the Stelvios. On my ride back from Pennsylvania to FL on my 09 Stelvio, I noticed a sensation which almost felt like the engine was missing at times and the bike felt sorta lurchy. If I got about say 4500 rpm the sensation went away.

Tomorrow I am gonna pull the valve covers off, check/adjust the valve clearances, balance the throttle bodies and reset the TPS with the VDSTS software.

Does what I am describing sound like something anyone else has experienced?

Hi Chris, sounds like the typical 'Closed Loop' 8stroking issue that is caused by the incredibly lean mapping.

1.) Hearsay tells me that the #2 map for the Stelvio helps somewhat, I know that the second map for the 8V Griso helped me a lot. If you can find out what map you have in that would be a good start.

2.) I have found that the low speed running of my 8V has been helped substantially by the addition of a 'Fat Duc' O2 fooler. I know that Todd experimented on the dyno with one and it came out as a big, fat, 'FAIL' but on my bike it has all but eliminated the 8-stroking and subsequent driveline 'Chatter' which is what worried me most of all. This isn't to say that it will help with your bike, or that it is a 'Proper' sollution but for me it has worked as a temporary fix and it was cheap. It ISN'T a fit and forget sollution though as it appears that whatever it is doing to the signal doesn't get rolled into the map whollus-bollus as it has made the biek more sensitive to changes in ambient temperature and on days of differing heat I have to tweak it ever so slightly to maintain optimum low-down running. Why is this so? I haven't a clue! Perhaps one of the people out there who is a lot cleverer than me can cast some light on the situation??

Pete

Been there, done that.

Find a dealer with the Axone or navigator that is willing to put the latest software map into it. That pretty much cures it. (I think it is still there very slightly)

Chris
I know the Scooter Super Store in Daytona has the Axione, call them to see if they can download the latest map or have it already, as Piaggio is not supporting it anymore and has gone to the Navigator, I don't know when the cutoff date is.

Thanks Dan! Just called them and I am gonna try to get in their Saturday. They knew of the map but had not yet d'loaded it to their Axone which they said they will do this week.
