Hello, this is Andy, actual name is Yasutoshi Oyamada. I will visit south island of NZ from 26th Dec. till 3rd Jan.. I will rent a BMW 1200RT at Tewaiponam motorcycles.
My plan: Christchsurch > Stay at Tecapo > Mountcook > Stay at Queenstown >Millfordsound > Stay at Teanau > Stay at Danieden > Christchurch
This is a 5 days ride and I have 2 extra days.

I still have not reserved the hotels. I like youth hostel style hotels to have a chance to communicate with other visitors, that can be a backpacker hotel. but I also like to stay at the mid quality hotels if the place is worth. Adviser in Japan said it is easy to find the place day by day but I worry to waste a time for finding everyday. I will try to make a plan at http://www.aaguides.co.nz anyway.

Does anyone recommend me a good meal I should try, good event, good hotel, good backpackers hotel?
I want to try sky diving, Gliding or something exciting.

I am thinking of visiting Britten Motorcycles factory, supposed to say office. I used to dream of making a hot bike like he did. I bought his video tape and polo shirt before. I worry if there is no machine there but I like to bleethe the air of spirit. Also it would be interesting to visit the place related to the movie "World's Fastest Indian". I am interested in New Zealand's motorcycle engineering story. As I checked the Britten home page, it is in Christchurch. I can visit first day! but machines can be in some museum...

Cannot help you out with info on the South Island - I live in Auckland

But would advise to pre-book accomodation if you can. The Christmas/New year period in New Zealland is of course summer time and is when a large percentage of the population will be taking their holidays. The 26th of December is a public holiday, as are 25 & 28 December and 1st & 4th of January
