Hi, Had an accident a few weeks bac & the key snapped in the barrel, so I want to remove it to replace it. Do I have to remove the anti tamper screw or is there another way?
Cheers & enjoy the sun,
Manson

I hope that you are ok!

Every single modern motorcycle I have ever worked on and had to do this to, I had to drill out the break away anti-tamper screws and use an extreactor.

Although I have done other Moto Guzzi models, I have never done a V7, yet I am positive the V7 is the same as this is the industry standard security feature.

Good luck!

Cheers for that - I'm used to 70/80's Ducati's, so haven't come across the anti tamper Before!
I'm ok - crushed a kidney (due to disc lock in pocket! - so I don't carry anything in them now!), just gotta await a scan before doing heavy stuff again.
Cheers again

I've been able to remove the anti tamper screws by cutting a slot in the head Dremel. Then using a flat blade screwdriver with a square shank and wrench on the shank to remove them.

Here's to your speedy recovery! Good luck with the repair mate.

Just an idea, but have you tried to lift the remaining key out with some dental picks? Usually, if you apply pressure from 2 sides, you can remove it. Don't know about France, but here in the US, you can usually find these at a large auto parts store, or order them online. Worth a try before you undertake that big and expensive route.

Just cut with the Dremel but can't get the purchase on it - also I don't have a sq shaft driver (see if I can scrounge one!); Ta for the info. I might try to solder a piece onto the remaining key section!?! See what happens

That's worth a try, cheers. If not I'll try soldering onto the existing broken key - if I can get into it! V-twins look & sound good - enjoy the roads (bit straight for me in the US! (love bends - that's why I dropped her!)

Hi Scott, just to let you know - I found key extractors on the net which are similar (thanks to your idea) cost 7€! Don't know if they'll work yet!
