Hello

I have developed an annoying rattle coming form my instrament panel is there away to take it off and take it apart to see what is loose?
or am i barking up the wrong tree, maybe a warrenty claim not sure any help would be great.

Thanks

I would not take it apart if it is still under warranty, the likelyhood of breaking it is very high - believe me I know

You might find some useful info in this thread HERE

I had to replace the windshield motor last year, warranted and I did the replacement... In taking the screen and upper fairing pieces off I noticed that I was able to pull the instrument cluster back out of the way with no problem.
Seems to me the fairing bits were not all that hard to remove, few Allen screws and all that but not a big ta-do.

You may look and feel up under the fairing to find the cause of the rattle before you take the upper off.

Best,
Rob

You'll probably find the cover over the windshield mechanism is hitting the fairing. A rubber strip will cure it. Try tapping on the top of the cover and see if that isn't the noise.

If the rattle goes away when you grab the windshield motor cover, then it is most likely the front motor cover that is hitting the faring at the bottom of the cover.

As stated above, try splitting a small piece of rubber tubing (I used a small 1 inch long piece of small vacuum hose) split it on one side and slip it over the bottom center of the motor housing. I don't believe any adhesive is necessary, it seems to hold it's self just fine so far for me. Put it all back together, with just a little pressure to line up the screws. In time it will bed in. I don't think there is any real strain on any of the plastic parts or any need for adhesive, if you want to undo it.

Go get beer. Drink beer. Stand back and admire bike.

I had a buzz that I finally traced to coming from the turn signal reflector that wasn't retained adequately (on or more retaining tabs must have broken off). Replaced under warranty.

I have already done the rubber to the windshield motor housing, I will check the turn signals today on my way to work.
but I am fairly sure it is inside the instrament cluster if i tap on it i can hear something moving inside.

Thanks for all the replies
