Does anyone have a picture, reference, link or similar explaining the inner workings of a stock V100 Exhaust Combiner Box, "The Tub", under the bike? I'm thinking there is a Catalytic Converter and a Resonator in there, maybe some baffling, which then exits to the muffler which just seems like another DB Killer in the exhaust chain to me ??

I know lots of folks have done Big Bore kits, eliminating the tub, but, seems to me Guzzi spent considerable engineering resources on the exhaust that comes stock, and, I would at least like to learn more about it, why it was designed the way it is, and what the intent/goal was.

Some will say just to meet noise/emission standards, but, there's more to an exhaust than just that and knowing what is actually inside that little tub under the bike, what the exhaust gas flow is really like, that would help me understand that part of the bike better and make better decisions on any modifications down the road. It seems to be that "tub" under the bike is really the $$$$$$ engineering portion of the motor exhaust system. Slapping a can at the end of the pipe seems to be more aesthetic than anything mechanical.

Hi,

A lot of bikes have been doing that for a while, BMW R1100S , MV Augusta, a couple others whose names escape me at the moment…
Indeed a lot of work and $$$ to meet a few specs, emmisions, performance, noise etc…

No. None yet, and not sure anyone will do this short term. If you find one, please post it here.
You can see the thread below as to the results from proper flowing intake, exhaust and fueling (30% gain, different model, but the results will be similar in my decades of Guzzi performance mods).
