    ... to ride Hwy 299 as it once was. When I was on 299 between Redding and Douglas City CA last spring, Caltrans was cutting through the mountains straightening out the road. Too twisty for the big rigs. :( :( :cry: :cry: Seems criminal, if you zoom in on Google Maps satellite view you can see the new roadway and the old road path - it's just heart breaking. But Hwy 3 is still a twisty as ever. :)

    we dont have that problem here. lots of roundabouts to try. when i think of roads. the alps and italy are my favorite. last year was the stelvio pass. have a look on google or the forums. i went there when the car programme called it one of the best roads in europe. it is awe inspiring.
