Just looking for a trailer and I'm leaning towards the Kendon single trailer. Does anyone have one? Is it worth the cost? My TJ has a smittybilt towing system and I'm planning to haul my bike next month. Other recommendations are welcome. Thanks.

Good morning from the top of Virginia.

I had long been in the market for a m/c trailer, and last year pulled the trigger.

Did lots of due diligence -- code for "admired the problem for months" -- before getting an Aluma MC10.

See pic. No clue who the old fat guy is in the pic. :wasntme:

As you can see, I was constrained in towing capacity in my (beloved but POS) Toyota pickup ... 215+K miles, no nutt'n in amenities, but it just goes and goes. :inlove: Your Jeep makes that (almost) a non-issue, but the empty 500-pound weight is amazingly light.

Do not recall all my "requirements" but I had narrowed the search to a Kendon and the Aluma.

Both have (near rabid) fans, and both are, IMO, quality trailers. I have since (as in after that pic and tow or two) put new suspenders all around the red BPOS ;) and also put a set of leaf stiffeners on the rear -- as with motorcycles, what an extraordinary difference new and up-gunned suspension changes make, even a Neanderthalic vehicle!

Oh, and the dealer -- good folks, as mentioned below -- had, IMO, at least for towing vehicle's tongue-weight limits, mounted the Condor wheel vise (do not skimp; buy it!) too far forward and I had to move it back.

OK, OK, Kathi moved it back. Polish wives are stupendous. :inlove:

I think that what finally sold me was the ease and safety of loading and unloading. That was, for me, the most significant attribute I sought.

Without going into "this wasn't my first rodeo" sort of essay -- available if desired :giggle: -- I have had all sorts of "exciting" experiences doing that with and (stupidly) without assistance.
There are videos out there -- Kathi is asking if I am still on guzzitech:makeup:, so no time to give you those y/t url's, but you'll find 'em easily enough.

After several mounts and dismounts since, I cannot say enough good things about the ease of "on & off." No fear ... and I am easily skeeered. :(

One other point that was a non-issue for me is storage. Several Kendon trailers are way smaller and easier to "hide" than the Alumna.

Tho, yes, we live in Virginia, we travel to Atlanta every month, so, after wandering the web for best prices, ended up buying the MC10 south of Macon, at Best Trailers, http://besttrailers4u.com. Long-distance purchases are always a concern, but I was very impressed with staff's positive retail attitude.

Must go ...

Best,

Bill

P.S. Just saw "vagrant's" post. Hard to beat a deal like that. Steve is a "well-known good guy" on all the Guzzi boards, so all the Craigslist worries that accompany such buys are irrelevant.

I found a used Kendon single-rail last August, for my track bike. Hauled my Stelvio down to Guzzitech Fab & Service yesterday, and it held the beast with no issues. However, I'm too old & weak to get THAT bike up the ramp by myself :sweating:

Maybe it is time for a Baxley. http://www.baxleycompanies.com/Trailers.html Check the videos for how they operate.

That's a lot of trailer for one bike, although with a tailgate she would come in handy if the front chock is easily detached.
Since the back lowers I would have thought the "v" guide at the back would hinder your steering for slow ride on loading - not so?
The URLs link Scott posted had a nice simple cruiser trailer worth looking at.

Thanks guys. That's a lot of useful info. A friend of mine is selling his Kendon trailer and I'm thinking of buying it. That Aluma trailer looks like a nice option also.

I owned a Kendon two rail for a few years when I was running track days. I was very please with the rig and the factory support. An important advantage was the ability to stand it up, store it in my garage, and still have room to park the car behind it. I bought it use, ran it for several years, and time to let it go......... actually made money on the sale .
