Not really a major issue but could be one in case of a fall. My new to me Le Mans IV has a cover that hides the gas tank opening. It is opened by the contact key. Issue is that it keeps on opening while I ride. If I fall I don't want the flap to hit me.

Before I start thinking about a way to fix this, is there an easy way to remedy the issue

Thank you!

Are the tabs aligning? Does the tab the key moves moving without the key turning? Hard to say what is going on without seeing it.

Yes tabs are aligned . Tank cover Tab only moves with the key but vibrations make the tabs slide after a few minutes of riding and then tank cover opens. I really have to push down to close it with the key. Will post pictures of tabs shortly. Thanks.

Thinking about 2 options:

1) realign tabs at an angle that would reduce sliding
2) apply anti slippage material to one of the tabs.

Check to make sure the locking tab is secure to the lock body. If it is moving on its own, it shouldn't be. You may need to replace the locking tab if wallowed out at the lock body, the lock body, or both.
