LeMans III - how to remove the cush drive plate?

I'm not sure if my cush drive plate is stuck, or if I just don't know the trick to remove it. Should it just pull straight off? (I'm referring to the "flexible coupling disc" as described in the parts manual - the plate with driven splines attached.)
 
Use a two or thee jaw puller hooked under the splines and pushing on something on the bearing, an Oz 20c piece'll work :D . If you can't get the puller jaws to hook up use knife edge collets and a grease puller. Soak the hub in penetrating oil, it's probably seized up.

If it won't budge and you don't have a proper puller here is the brute force and ignorance suggestion - drill some small holes on the back side and drive the plate off with a hammer and suitable punches. The holes really don't hurt anything - hopefully you won't nick a web. Indeed they probably allow moisture out which is the original problem - if you feel the need you can seal the hole with RTV. Grease the rubbers with synthetic or rubber grease - which didn't seem to happen at the factory.

I personally stick only half of the original number of rubbers back in - I kind of like the 'hooking up' feeling of the rubbers doing there work. Presumably it will result in longer UJ and pinion life and general transmission wear.

Thanks - I will have at it tomorrow. Is there any point in installing new rubbers? Are new ones any more compliant than the 28-year-old petrified blocks in the wheel right now?
 
Mine were only 18 years old when I looked at them and they were like new as far as condition of the rubber goes.

I'd drill them or leave every other one out if you want a bit more compliance, just my take

UPDATE: the gentle use of pry-bars worked. The 28-year-old rubbers are still fairly compliant. The next problem is that both the drive flange and cush drive plate appear to need replacing. There appears to be a lot of backlash -- 2mm at the outside edge of the cush drive plate.
