Hi All,

My T3 is getting a new LH switch block a taiwanese Yamaha RD copy unit which is being fitted for me at the auto electrician.

I need help as the electrician is saying that the cable will in no way fit though the handlebar as the original and will run with ties on the outside.

Im not happy about this and would like it to follow inside and not out? Anyone with any advise on this process would be greatly appreciated and agin thanks in advance.

Well it sounds like the choices are enlarge the hole(s) or run the wires on the outside... I personally would not fret, rather run the wires on the outside but that's just me.
In that the aftermarket (being kind here...) switch is not original I don't see an issue with having the harness out side.

I have Never put a harness back through the bars, could not be bothered.

Nice looking T-3 there Man...

Best,
Rob

Thanks Rob, I have come to terms with them on the outside now as the job is being completed Wednesday no big deal just thought maybe an alternative solution was out there. The T3 is a one owner 1975 from new.

Thanks again

As the owner of my own sole owner from new '78 T3, seems to me some of theT3 variants came with the wiring outside. Also, no problem with changing the stock switchgear, they are complete crap IMHO. I too have alternate LH side switchgear, though I got the somewhat more expensive, far superior to T3 switches that are the Euro version (meaning, has headlight on/off switch) on the 1000S & similar models from the '90's. Still have the RH side stock switches, though the kill switch part started shorting out in the rain 20-25 years ago so I just disconnected that. Start button still good, though. Great all purpose bikes, the very epitomy of what used to be called a standard, still use mine on a regular basis along with my 1000S & Norge.
