So about a year ago I caught a few episodes of Long Way Round on Outdoor Network and I always wanted to finish watching it so I jumped on eBay and bought both LWR and LWD on DVD. I also bought the hard bound illustrated book that accompanied LWD. I was pleasantly surprised to see some Moto Guzzi content both on the DVD and in the book. In LWD whenever Ewan McGregor was tooling around London in the episodes that covered the pre-trip planning and preparations he was on his Griso and once they were on their way they made a stop at the Moto Guzzi factory and Museum as they passed through Italy.

On a side note the day the package arrived my wife was like "you can watch those on your days off when I'm not home" so of course I had to put the DVD in immediately after dinner. Only made it through one episode before needing to hit the rack. The next day I get an e-mail from my wife to the effect of "we gonna watch the next episode tonight....."

I suspect they didn't drive guzzis 'cause MG wouldn't give them free bikes and free repair/parts support on the road.

Which Guzzi would they have given them?
The Stelvio came in 08 and those trips happened in 04 and 06...

You're right. The Quota was discontinued at that point yoo. Not sure if the 750NTX was around theneither. Guess they would have had to make it a real non-sponsored adventure like Guzzi Galore and take an a V7 or an updated Eldorado!

I've been fortunate to get to become good friends with David Alexanian (as he bought my 1100SS from me), who is the Producer for the Long Way Down.
LWA was a bit to annoying in the sense of it wasn't just about the adventure, it was more for the production. LWD brought a level of enthusiast to the table, and visiting the Guzzi factory was icing on the cake of course. But, taking delivery of a Cal Vin while there is only something a celebrity can do.
I'd more enjoy a movie based on Paul of GuzziGalore.nl, Claudio of LongWalk.it or Andrea of Stelvio2Stelvio.it -- all of which are my good friends.; Real people, real riders, real experiences.

That said, if Ewan exposes more people to two wheels, good on him for it.

No Guzzi could've done the LWA, but Ewan would probably love to do it on a Stelvio if done again. He's a big fan of Guzzi as the video hints to. In real life, he's much more so.

My $.02.
